Brief Description EDGE Evolution (sometimes also called EDGE+ or EGPRS2) is an enhancement of the GSM/EDGE standard to increase the maximum data throughput of the existing GSM/EDGE network by means of minor modifications. The improvements include downlink dual-carrier operation, higher-order modulation (e.g. 16QAM, 32QAM) in combination with an optional higher symbol rate and turbo coding, latency improvements, and the use of RX diversity at the mobile station. Depending on the features applied, peak data rates of up to 1 Mbit/s can be achieved. The R&S®SMW-K41 option provides R&D engineers with a solution for generating signals in accordance with the EDGE Evolution standard (EDGE+), based on higher-order modulation. The option is in line with the EDGE specifications as defined in Release 98 of the 3GPP standard. It extends the R&S®SMW-K40 option by providing additional configuration options.''
